Carbon Planning Tool Open Source Workgroup
Public Feedback Section
-
The Carbon Planning Tool (available to registered OCW users by clicking the "My Footprint" tab) is a professional greenhouse gas assessment and planning suite that enables organizations to calculate their carbon footprints and create plans for reducing their emissions and track performance against voluntary and regulatory emissions reduction targets.
Misys Open Source Solutions has now made the software source code for the Carbon Planning Toolkit available as an open source, ready-to-use application that can be downloaded from the popular open source project website: sourceforge.com under project name: OpenCarbon™.
This workgroup has been formed to support those wishing to make use of CPT, and to provide participation in the community dedicated to expanding its functionality and supporting the development and use of open data standards for greenhouse gas reporting and management.

CRC will have a substantial impact on those organisations covered by it. The best prepared can derive significant competitive advantage.
From measurement to management of energy and emissions, from budgeting for to trading of allowances, there are many issues to address.
This workgroup aims to share best practice across all of the above and many other areas, becoming a resource for all levels of involvement in, and understanding of, the CRC.

Energy Reduction
Public Feedback Section
-
Effective management of energy consumption, historically a small percentage of cost in an organisation, has become an area of focus.
Volatile energy prices, security of supply and new regulation have been driving a desire for efficiency. Added to that, the imperative for operational efficiency and cost management is stronger than ever.
This workgroup seeks to share best practice around measurement and reduction of energy consumption at scale or as a programme - rather than by piecemeal activities.
The main questions in this regard are:
What can be delivered?
By when?
How can I finance it?
We welcome discussion around these and any other queries that you may have.
